Apply for financial assistance from NSFAS

National Student Financial Aid Scheme applications open on 3 September 2018. Students are argued to sign outstanding NSFAS Bursary Agreement to ensure that their 2019 application proceeds smoothly.

Are you in need of financial assistance to study at a tertiary institution? Apply for a National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) study loan or bursary.

NSFAS is a loan and bursary scheme funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training for those who do not have the financial means to fund their studies and / or cannot access bank funding, study loans or bursaries.

Apply online or at the NYDA and Local Youth Office branches closest to you.

NSFAS financial support for all university students is a loan and will need to be paid back when the student finds employment after completion of their studies. However students who pass all their subjects will get 40% of their NSFAS funding for that particular year/semester, converted into a bursary. This means they will only pay back 60% of the loan when they start working.
