61 of 1965

The Indians Education Act 61 of 1965 intends:

  • to provide for the control of education for Indians by the Department of Indian Affairs,
  • to amend
    • the Special Education Act, 1948 [repealed in 1967],
    • the Vocational Education Act, 1955 [repealed in 1967], and
    • the Republic of South Africa Constitution Act, 1961 [repealed in 1994], and
  • to provide for matters incidental thereto.

Commencement

  • 1 April 1966, all Sections in respect of the Province of Natal and training colleges in the Province of Transvaal
  • 1 April 1967, all Sections, in so far as they apply to types of schools in respect of which they are not yet in operation in the Province of Transvaal
