MEC Scott donates much needed items to Mlaba family
MEC for Finance in KwaZulu-Natal, Belinda Scott, who is also the Political Champion of uMgungundlovu District, visits the Mlaba Family in Ridge Park area, Pietermaritzburg that suffered a double blow ahead of the Christmas Eve.
The Mlaba Family, during a tragedy that happened on Thursday last week, lost their son and had their house burnt down. The family lost everything that was in the house. Scott co-ordinated the support for the family and delivered donations that include mattresses, blankets, gas stove, cooking pots, dinner sets, linen as well as full grocery. Scott was accompanied by the Department of Human Settlement who are on hand to assist with fixing certain areas of the house so that it can be habitable, and Msunduzi Municipality officials who will also render various assistance.
“We are deeply touched by this tragedy. Through our Operation Sukuma Sakhe structure, we want to ensure that the Mlaba family receives the much-needed support from us and this is in the spirit of Ubuntu,” said Scott.
