The Railways and Harbours Acts Amendment Act 44 of 1959 intends:
- to amend
- the Railways and Harbours Service Act, 1912;
- the Railways and Harbours Service Act, 1925 [repealed in 1960];
- the Railways and Harbours Superannuation Fund Act, 1925 [repealed in 1960];
- the Railways and Harbours Pensions Amendment Act, 1941;
- the Railways and Harbours Acts Amendment Act, 1949;
- the Railways and Harbours Service and Superannuation Amendment Act, 1955 [repealed in 1964], and
- the Railways and Harbours Control and Management (Consolidation) Act, 1957 [repealed in 1981];
- to provide for increased annuities to certain former members and to certain widows of deceased former members of the Railways and Harbours Service;
- to validate certain changes in conditions of employment;
- to validate options exercised by certain servants to retire at a higher age; and
- to provide for other incidental matters.
