Umgababa, Mandeni and Blythedale Beach Festivals A Blast

The Umgababa Beach Festival held on 3-4 December 2011, the Mandeni Beach Festival held on 17-18 December, as well as the Blythedale Beach Festival held on 26-27 December, were a resounding success.  Residents of these areas, as well as holiday-makers, joined the festivities in great numbers to enjoy a sporting experience at our beautiful beach sites.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport and Recreation, together with  the Ethekwini, Mandeni  and Kwa-Dukuza Municipalities, the Sharks Board and Lovelife,  put together these festivals in order to encourage members of the communities to make full use of the beach  amenities including engaging in fun activities by participating in the various beach games.

People attending these festivals had been treated to a variety of activities including beach sports:  Volleyball, netball, touch rugby, soccer; fishing competition; water safety and sea rescue demos; Indigenous games; Tug-of-war; Beauty competitions; Kiddies shows; Love Life lifestyle new centre; Top artists:  Bullistic, Lvovo, Big Nuz and Malin; DJs: C’ndo, Tira, Twitty, Oros, Oskido as well as local acts. The Beach Games contributed immensely to the festive period, ensuring that fun was always tempered with safety.
