Minister Mbalula to mark the start of taxi scrapping under the revised Taxi Recapitalisation Programme
The Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula will unveil a new phase of the Taxi Recapitalisation Programme, following approval by Cabinet to implement the programme in a revised format.
Since the implementation of the Taxi Recapitalisation Programme in 2005, 72 600 old and unsafe taxis have been scrapped.
Government subsequently conducted a review of the programme in order to maximise its impact and accelerate the realisation of its objectives.
Media is invited to join the Minister for the scrapping of illegally modified panel vans, marking the implementation of the revised Taxi Recapitalisation Programme.
