President Cyril Ramaphosa addresses National Summit on Science and Innovation response to Coronavirus COVID-19, 31 Jul

President Cyril Ramaphosa will tomorrow, Friday, 31 July 2020, address a virtual National Summit on Science and Innovation response to COVID-19.  President Ramaphosa will share the platform with World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Under the theme "Harnessing science, technology and innovation in response to COVID-19: A national and international effort", the Summit will focus on health innovation and technologies, and social and economic sustainability during and after the pandemic. 

Hosted by the Ministers of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and of Health, Dr Blade Nzimande and Dr Zweli Mkhize respectively, the conference brings together scientists, governments, business and civil society from all over the world in open discussion towards a greater understanding of the impact of COVID-19 on society and the economy.

The conference comes as COVID-19 cases increase rapidly across the globe and demand grows for the development of new diagnostic tools and treatment regimes, and the burden on health resources and economies remains high.
