Premier Willies Mchunu public engagement: “Our journey of building a stronger province is continuing.”
National Council of Provinces – 13 September
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu will address the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) during the first day of its week-long visit to various parts of the province. The Provincial Week of 12 – 16 September 2016 will focus on, among others, the following issues pertaining to the provision of education and healthcare:
Mchunu remarked: “Over the years NCOP has been an instrument which has assisted us as the KZN Government to assess the impact that we are making on the ground. Importantly, the NCOP has inculcated and promoted the habit of firm consideration to the plight of the electorates.”

Provincial Executive Council Lekgotla – 14 to 16 September
The continuing journey of building a stronger province will be speeded up when KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu and members of the executive council converge in Durban for a three-day Provincial Executive Council Lekgotla. Mchunu has invited heads of departments, CEOs of public entities, mayors and senior government officials to be part of this meeting that will review the performance of government and plan concrete programmes for the year ahead.
Mchunu stated: “This Lekgotla will enable us to channel our energies towards ensuring an equitable distribution of economic opportunities in order to uplift our people who are leaving below the poverty line. After this Lekgotla we will lead all efforts aimed at mobilising the private sector to invest across the corners of the province in a manner that serves the overall development imperatives.”
