Premier Senzo Mchunu celebrates Freedom Day, 27 Apr

Premier invites media to attend Freedom Day

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu has called on the people of this province to unite and celebrate Freedom Day as a “United Nations” committed to preserving the Rainbow Nation. This year’s Freedom Day will take place in Embuzweni Sports Field, Ward 15 Peacetown in Ladysmith starting at 10h00.

“Perhaps the question that we need to ask ahead of this important day is what Freedom is?

“Freedom refers to a state of complete psycho-social and economic emancipation, to live free of oppression and prejudice based on social status, race, class, culture, gender, religion, disability and political, legal, economic, cultural or other considerations.”

“We need to understand that true freedom without access to justice is impossible. Freedom without access to economic opportunities is not complete. Freedom that coexists with under-development and deep poverty is not true freedom. Freedom is indivisible—there can be no freedom for some and not for all.”

Media is invited to attend and to RSVP with Regi Khumalo
