KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu is inviting members of the media to attend the Business Breakfast convened to introduce members of the executive council more especially MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Sihle Zikalala.
Mchunu has unequivocally stated that poverty is public enemy number one. Therefore the next few months will be characterized by hard work in order to bridge the gap between the people of KZN and prosperity.
He quipped: “As I carry out my duties I think about the brave heroes and heroines who forfeited the comforts of their homes during the fight against apartheid. They dedicated their lives to ensure that we attain this freedom and democracy.”
He pointed out: “Now that we are free politically, our next project is to fight for economic liberation. We have declared poverty as public enemy number one. Our view is that we need to eradicate poverty so that the people of this province can taste the fruits of democracy.”
He further emphasised: “I want to emphasize that the captains of industry and emerging entrepreneurs are central in our fight for economic liberation.”
He summed it up eloquently: It is for these reasons that I will be formally meeting this sector of our society to introduce myself and the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Sihle Zikalala. Importantly, I will also introduce members of the new executive council who have a mandate of advancing this struggle for economic liberation.”
