Youth Development Agency hosts YouthBuild Skills Project graduation ceremony, 13 May

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) in partnership with Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality in North West will host a Graduation Ceremony of the participants who underwent training on the YouthBuild Skills Project.

The programme offers the targeted youth with an opportunity to create own enterprises thereby increasing youth participation in the mainstream economy.

Over 90 young people who received skills in plumbing and welding will graduate after 6 months of training. This training received by the young volunteers was a short skills programme accredited by Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA).

The NYS Programme is viewed by NYDA as a mechanism to provide young people with skills which will enhance opportunities for income generation and employment whilst simultaneously encouraging voluntary and service activities by young people to support community development.

As part of its exit strategy for young people the project focuses on three development streams namely hard-skills training, enterprise development and further learning.

Members of the media are invited to attend the graduation ceremony scheduled as follows:
Date: Friday, 13 May 2016
Time: 9h00
Venue: Mmabana Cultural Centre, Taung

Graduation ceremony will be addressed by the Executive Mayor of Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality, Cllr C.E Tladinyane and Ms Ankie Motsoahae, Executive Director for National Youth Service (NYS).
