Youth Development Agency launches 2016 South African Youth Awards, 23 Jun

NYDA to officially launch the 2016 South African Youth Awards (SAYAs)

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) will on Thursday, 23 June 2016 officially launch the South African Youth Awards as part of the 40th Anniversary of the June 16, 1976 Soweto Uprising with the actual award ceremony taking place in November 2016.

The primary objective of the South African Youth Awards is to recognise young South Africans who are making a positive contribution in the country, the African continent and the rest of the world. The awards also recognize individuals and youth organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to youth development ,in particular  encouraging the public sector ,private sector and civil society to  ‘better their best’ in contributing further to youth development.

Through the SAYAs the NYDA seeks to provide a platform to showcase the exceptional work and contribution that young people are and tell inspiring stories of young people who make extraordinary achievements despite all odds. The categories of the awards will include the following: academia, arts and entertainment, entrepreneurship, private sector, science, technology and innovation; Presidential Award, etc.

Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation; Buti Manamela will address the launch.
