North West Health receive a newly built clinic from mining company Glencore

Glencore to handover clinic to Department of Health valued at R26 Million

The community of Bethanie near Brits will now receive a comprehensive healthcare services including dental at their door step. Glencore, a mining company operating in the North West Province will handover a newly built clinic to the Department of Health on Wednesday, 22 July 2020.

Built at the cost of about R26 million, the clinic has increased the number and size of consulting rooms and waiting areas thus enabling more community members to be served eliminating any need to wait for service outside the clinic. Sixteen nurses, two doctors, midwife and dentist have been appointed to work at the clinic.

The services that will be rendered at the clinic include treating communicable and none communicable diseases, emergency cases, family planning, Tuberculosis, maternal and child health, minor ailments and chronic illnesses among others.

The mining company has donated furniture, medicinal and dental equipment including dentist chair. The company has also committed to maintain clinic infrastructure, garden, and pays for electricity.

Proceedings will start at 10h00 at Bethanie Primary School with a donation of PPE to the value of R520 000 as part of Mandela Month celebrations. The donation includes 161 Sanitizers (25 liters), 101 Sanitizers stands, 548 Sanitizer spray bottles 100ml, 33 000 Surgical masks and 370 cloths masks, and 98 Boxes of Bar Soaps (50 in a box).
