No hostage at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital
The Gauteng Department of Health would like to inform the community and hospital users that there was no hostage this morning, 2 August 2016 at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital but a drill by the Trauma Disaster Team.
This exercise, which cannot be announced before, is conducted to assess the readiness of employees on how to manage the eventuality should they be faced with it while in the line of duty.
We wish to alley any fears and reassure the public that there is no danger at the hospital and the drill was a success.
No service delivery or patient care was compromised during this time.
