Minister Zweli Mkhize confirms total of 97 302 cases of Coronavirus COVID-19

As of today, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 97 302 with 4 621 new cases identified.

1 328 060 tests have been completed in total of which 34 452 new tests are reported.

Reported Deaths and Recoveries

Regrettably, we report a further 53 COVID-19 related deaths- 8 from Gauteng, 1 from KwaZulu Natal, 17 from Eastern Cape and 27 from Western Cape.

This brings the total deaths to 1930.

We wish to express our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.

The mortality rate is 1,98%

The number of recoveries is 51 608, which translates to a recovery rate of 53%
