Lamola welcomes 1068 new correctional officials

Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola, will on Monday, 02 August 2021, welcome 1068 new correctional officials who were part of the 2019/20 learnership programme of the Department of Correctional Services (DCS).

The 1068 new recruits will commence their duties on Monday, and they are a second group of learners to be absorbed following the absorption of the first group of 923 learners in June this year.

DCS committed to reprioritize its budget to enable the absorption of these learners. They are employed into permanent security vacant posts across all the six regions of the Department. The new recruits will enhance security capacity of the department and contribute towards reducing workforce shortages.

We are pleased with the absorption of all the learners of the 2019/20 learnership programme and this will infuse youth energy into our operations.
