Minister Patricia de Lille visits North West Public Works and Roads, 16 Jan

North West Public Works and Roads in Mahikeng, hosts Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Ms Patricia De Lille 

The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Ms Patricia De Lille, is visiting Mahikeng on invitation by the Department of Public Works and Roads (North West) on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 10am.

The purpose of the official visit, is for the Minister to check and assess first hand, on the progress made by her "Intervention Team" deployed from National to the provincial Public Works and Roads since it was placed under administration.

Cabinet invoked Section 100 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa on May 23, 2008, placing several provincial departments under administration including the department of Public Work and Roads, which is currently under Section 100 (1) (b).

Mr Samuel Thobakgale is the appointed Administrator and leader of the "Intervention Team’" in the department.

Minister de Lille is scheduled to interact with Senior Managers of the department from 8am to 10am at Protea Hotel, Mahikeng, before winding -up her visit to the province with the unveiling of the newly purchased fleet for road construction.

The department took delivery of the new equipment (yellow fleet) valued at more than R27 million during the Christmas recess. The unveiling of the equipment will be held at the Government Workshop situated near the Mahikeng Cemetery at 11am.

She is expected to be accompanied by the Premier of North West, Professor Job Mokgoro and MEC for Public Works and Roads, Gaoage Molapisi.
