Minister of Environmental Affairs, Dr Edna Molewa, to deliver closing address at Global Youth in Biodiversity Network Workshop on 19 August 2017

The Minister of Environmental Affairs, Dr Edna Molewa, will deliver the closing remarks at the Global Youth in Biodiversity Network in Africa workshop in Muldersdrift, Gauteng, on Saturday, 19 August 2017.

Youth from a number of Africa countries working in the field of conservation and protection of biodiversity have been attending the first Global Youth in Biodiversity Network in Africa workshop  to exchange ideas and find possible solutions to preventing biodiversity loss. 

The workshop is taking place from 14 to 19 August 2017 at Misty Hills in Muldersdrift.

The Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) is an international network of youth organizations and individuals from all over the world. Established in 2010,  the network  is the official youth coordination platform in the negotiations under the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Its aim is to raise awareness amongst young people on the values of biodiversity, and connect individuals and youth organisations in order to build a global coalition to halt the effects of climate change on the environment.   GYBN represents 343 000 members from 107 countries worldwide.

Media are invited to attend the closing ceremony and handover of certificates to participants by Dr Molewa and the Director of Miss Earth South Africa,  Ms Ella Bella Constantinides.
