Minister Blade Nzimande on Driving Licensing Card Account employees

The Minister of Transport Dr Blade Nzimande statement on the Department Of Transport with the Driving Licensing Card Account Employees

The Minister of Transport, Dr Blade Nzimande, would like to assure South Africans that applicants for driver's licenses will not be affected by the impasse between the Department of Transport and the Driving Licensing Card Account employees.

The employees refused to renew their contracts with the Department and in its place demanded permanent employment.

What is also critical to note is that the DLCA is currently undergoing its yearly routine maintenance of its machinery and systems.

In the events of unforeseen delays, the DLCA has put in place contingency plans to recover on their turn-around time and deliver the cards as per prevailing standards.

On the matter relating to the impasse with employees, the Minister directed the Acting-Director General of the Department of Transport to meet all stakeholders involved, including the DLCA management and employees.
