MEC Beverley Schäfer briefs media on Western Cape Agriculture's Land Reform evaluation, 14 Feb

Minister Beverley Schäfer to release the results of the Western Cape Department of Agriculture’s Land Reform evaluation

An independent study of land reform projects supported by the Western Cape Department of Agriculture between 2009 and 2013, found that 62% of projects were successful.

The evaluation was one of the only studies into the success of land reform in the country.

In its provincial strategic plan for 2014 to 2019, the department set itself a new target of achieving a 70% success rate among the land reform projects it supports.

A new performance evaluation was conducted at the end of 2018, by the same service providers, using the same set of parameters used in the 2009-2013 study.

Members of the media are invited to a media briefing where the results of the evaluation will be released. The briefing will be held on a recipient farm.
