Gauteng Health hosts Mental Healthcare Summit, 30 Oct

Gauteng Mental Health Summit will take stock and pave way forward in mental healthcare provision

The Gauteng Department of Health will tomorrow host Mental Healthcare Summit, which will reflect on the state of mental healthcare in the province, review the progress made on the 2017 Midrand Declaration, present the Mental Health recovery plan and pave a way forward for mental healthcare provision. 

Delegates from various sectors of society are expected to discuss different topics such as mental health in the workplace; mental health in youth (activating youth forums at universities and the communities); strengthening mental health at district level and e-health strategies for mental health services amongst others. 

The Summit also coincides with the World Mental Health Month which is observed during the month of October with an aim to raise awareness and mobilise efforts in support of mental health programs.
