MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza officially hands over house to orphans as part of Mandela Month activities, 31 Jul

KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC, Mrs Nonhlanhla Khoza, will hand over a house to orphans, as part of wrapping up Mandela Month activities.

MEC Khoza took her own initiative to construct the three-roomed house for the Shange siblings, who had spent years in a dilapidated rondavel left by their parents.

The initiative was inspired by Madiba’s 67 minutes concept in honour of the benevolent former state president.

MEC Khoza started constructing the house in June from her own pocket to ensure that the dignity of the Shange siblings was restored.

“As we close Madiba birthday month, I thought it’s important to ensure that these children have a safe and proper home. We just wanted to lift the burden of these children in honour and celebrating Madiba legacy.”

She has also described the handing over of the house as a true reflection of former president Nelson Mandela’s spirit.

MEC Khoza will also furnish the house for the Shange siblings and provide them with groceries.

Members of the media are cordially invited to cover the official handing over a house to orphans in Ubuhlebezwe Municipality, Ward 09 in Shange area, Ixopo.
