MEC Kenetswe Mosenogi addresses a business seminar in Rustenburg, 28-29 Oct

The North West MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Conservation, and Tourism, Ms Kenetswe Mosenogi will address a business seminar scheduled to take place at Rustenburg as from 28th to 29th October 2021. The two day seminar is intended to be an outreach initiative towards economic empowerment of small businesses with an added focus on the business regulatory framework.

The seminar is part of the resolutions taken during the youth month celebrations earlier this year, wherein the department in collaboration with Development Financial Institutions (DFI’s) held an inaugural youth webinar with the purpose of creating awareness about products and offerings of the department and DFI’s operating in the province. The seminar is regarded as a valuable platform to respond to challenges raised by small businesses in growing and sustaining their business to create employment within the areas of operation.  Considering the latest unemployment figures underlined by the fact that a lot still needs to be done to step up existing efforts to create opportunities that bring more people into the economy, especially enterprises owned by young people.

MEC Mosenogi describes the seminar as a platform that enables government and its agencies to review measures in place to assist small businesses and cooperatives operating in the province, and where necessary reinforce initiatives that have proven to be unviable or not cost-effective. “Our financial and non-financial support to the enterprises have proven to be impactful. We are resolute to continue in investing in an economy that is productive for businesses who are prepared to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”, said MEC.

The seminar will be held as follows:
Date: 28th – 29th October 2021
Time: 09h00
Venue: Rustenburg

The participating SMME’s will be from Tourism, Environment, Agriculture Manufacturing, and other active sectors. Amongst other issues that will be discussed, will be financial and non-financial support offered by Developmental Financial Institutions (DFIs) inclusive of Productivity SA and regulatory matters that negatively impact on daily operations of small businesses like municipal by laws, grading of tourism establishments and regulatory requirements in terms of various legislations.
