The MEC of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism in Limpopo, Mr Seaparo Sekoati, will deliver a public lecture on climate change-related issues at the University of Limpopo on 27 July 2017.
The lecture, under the theme Sustainable Development and Green Agenda is being co-hosted by LEDET and the University of Limpopo.
This lecture will address the move by the country, and the province, towards a cleaner greener economy that encapsulates the principles of sustainable development in line with the National Development Plan Vision 2030.
The government has recognised the importance of sustainable climate resilient economies and communities in Vision 2030 which requires that we sustain South Africa’s ecosystems and use natural resources efficiently.
In this regard, the NDP states that the country needs to implement measures to protect South Africa’s natural resources including an environmental management framework in which developments that have serious environmental or social effects need to be offset by support for improvements in related areas and a target for the amount of land and oceans under protection.
Media are invited to attend.
