MEC Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha conveys condolences on passing of Mondli Cele

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha would like to join the people of KwaZulu-Natal and the football fraternity in the province in expressing her deepest sadness at the untimely death of Maritzburg United player Mondli Cele.

The 27 year old died in a tragic car crash last night after their match with Orlando Pirates in which he scored an opening goal.

“We have leant with shock of the untimely death of this talented soccer player. Cele had an amazing work ethic on the field and his future looked bright in the Team of Choice. As the province we have been robbed of a talented athlete who was inspirational to young and upcoming soccer players,” said Sibhidla-Saphetha.

We would like to convey our condolences to the Cele family, the Maritzburg United Football Club, friends and relatives. May you find solace in the fact that we are proud of the legacy Mondli left behind.
