Premier Willies Mchunu welcomes support from United Nations

United Nations ignites a journey of building a stronger KZN

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu has expressed his appreciation to the Secretary General of the United Nations Mr Ban Ki-Moon who has offered to work with KZN governmemt to create a stronger province socially and economically. He was speaking today during a luncheon in honour of His Excellency and it was attended by international delegates at the Durban City Hall.

"This province will use the 21st International Aids Conference to learn best practices in the fight against HIV and AIDS. We wish Durban to be a world landmark for a decisive action and a global giant leap from the 20th conference held in Melbourne.”

“We want Durban to be remembered positively such as its role in the World Conference Against Racism, Non Aligned Movement Summit, the formation of the African Union, BRICS Summit, CORP 17 and many other international conferences.”

“Inspired by the spirit of former President Nelson Mandela we want to emerge out of the conference with strategies that will ensure an improvement in the AIDS awareness campaigns as well as health promotion activities.”

“This morning the people of this province spent 67 minutes at the Nelson Mandela Capture Site in Howick outside Pietermaritzburg as part of International Mandela Day. Members of executive council and members of provincial parliament are visiting communities throughout the province to pay tribute to him for his efforts aimed at creating an Aids Free Generation.”
