Premier Senzo Mchunu conveys condolences to families of victims of road accidents

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu dedicate the whole day visiting families of the victim of road accidents

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu welcomes the outpouring messages of condolences to the families of the victims of road accidents that took place on Friday evening, 18th March in Nonoti, KwaDukuza.

"I will dedicate the whole day meeting with the families of the victims to personally convey my deepest sympathy. I will also convey messages of condolences from the people of KZN."

"We welcome the support from religious leaders who have offered to join me to pray for the families during this difficult period. We will also visit families of the victims who are still in hospital."

"Yesterday evening my special advisor on good governance Advocate Linda Zama and a delegation from my office visited the victims at Stanger hospital to ensure that they receive quality healthcare. We want to express our appreciation to the clinicians and nursing staff for their professionalism and sterling effort. One victim of the accident has been discharged."

"Today I will also receive a briefing from Adv. Zama on the progress of the investigation. We call upon "credible witnesses" of road accidents that took place along N2 to come forward and work with the police. The witnesses have been giving conflict reports which have left many people confused. They must also assist with information that can lead to the arrest of the driver of the truck that allegedly drove away."

"The latest road accidents call for government to intensify road safety campaigns as we approach the Easter Weekend. We cannot afford the loss of innocent lives on our roads."

I have been liaison with the MEC for Transport, Community Safety since the road accidents were reported to me. We have undertaken to allow law enforcement officers to do their work diligently."
