KwaDukuza Municipal Council will on Friday, 31 March 2017, hold a memorial service for the late political activist, Ahmed Kathrada in tribute to his lifelong contributions to the liberation movement.

KwaZulu Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Sihle Zikalala will deliver the keynote address on this occasion.

The memorial service is organized as follows:

Date: Friday, 31 March 2017
Venue: SADTU Park, Opposite KwaDukuza Clinic
Time: 15h00

We hold this memorial as part of remembering and celebrating the good spirit of the late ANC veteran, Ahmed Kathrada who survived several confrontations with the oppressors in efforts to advance the course of the liberation movement during the dark days of apartheid.

We are humbled to have had such an outstanding leader on our side, a leader who did not only commit his life to end the injustices of apartheid but continued to pursue through his actions, the mission for self-determination and prosperity for all citizens.

Kathrada continued to play an exemplary role even after our country was freed from the bondage of apartheid through his gallant contributions to the Democratic Parliament together with the later President Nelson Mandela and this was evident following the establishment of his foundation which he dedicated to deepen non-racialism and the promotion of constitutional ideals.
