Gauteng Transport hosts Commission of Inquiry into Taxi Violence public hearings, 18 Mar

The Commission of Inquiry into Taxi Violence continues 

The public hearings of the Commission of Inquiry into Taxi Violence in the Gauteng province will continue

on Wednesday, 18 March 2020 at 10:00.

The Commission will hear testimony from the Head of Transport Academy in the Gauteng province,

Mr Lebelo Maloka, on Wednesday, 18 March 2020 at 10:00.

Mr Maloka’s testimony will include, but not be limited:

  • The convening of a Taxi Indaba called Ntirhisano;

  • 8-point plan, an intervention on the issues of permits and operating licenses for the Taxi Industry;

  • The roles of the Premier and MECs in the Summits;

  • Outreach programme for the Taxi Industry; and

  • The outcomes of 2016 and 2019 Taxi Summits.

The legal team is in the process of identifying and/or consulting with other witnesses who will appear

before the Commission over the next few weeks.
