MEC Magome Masike conveys condolences to family of Dr Abdul Wadee

Health sector saddened by the passing away of a veteran medical specialist

The North West Department of Health and the entire health sector is saddened by the passing away of a seasoned and veteran medical and health specialist in the form of Dr Abdul Hamid Wadee. These are the words of MEC, Dr Magome Masike who immediately responded with sadness at hearing of the death of Dr Hamid Wadee.

Dr Wadee passed away on the early hours on 2nd June 2016 after a long illness. He was buried the same day on the 2nd June 2016. The North West Department of Health and the Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex bids farewell to Dr. Abdul Hamid Wadee. 

He was a former clinical manager and employee of KT Hospital for 20 years.  Dr. Wadee started in Klerksdorp/ Tshepong Hospital in 1996 and retired as a clinical manager in 2004.  He then continued to serve Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital as a medical doctor in the department of Internal and Family medicine until 2016 January due to illness.

Dr. Wadee came at the right time and with the assistance and leadership of Dr. Theuns Oosthuizen the then KTPW Hospital Complex CEO and Dr. Magome Masike; former Mayor of Matlosane City, was involved in the transformation process of the hospital. Dr. Wadee was a very humble man, polite and had a way of solving problems without compromising the values of the hospital and thus was a great asset to the Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex.

“I have known Dr Wadee for a long time.  I know the impact he made at Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex. He mentored many young doctors who learnt a lot from him. Words are not enough to appreciate his contribution but I am grateful for his role in lifting Klerksdorp/Tshepong to the level of a center of excellence in our province. His legacy will leave forever”, said MEC Dr Magome Masike.

The hospital transformation process started during his time. Departmentalisation/ Re-engineering between two wings was completed and the  hospital got accredited by COHSASA; an independent body assessing and accrediting health facilities based on core standards.

Dr Wadee was instrumental in initiating the Academic link between Wits Medical School and Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex, which led to Klerksorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex being developed as a clinical training site for the Faculty of Health Sciences, Wits University.

The MEC for Health in the North West Province Dr. Magome Masike together with management and staff of Klerksdorp/Tshepong hospital Complex submit their sincere condolences to the family and relatives of Dr Abdul Hamid Wadee.
