Sustainable Harvesting Awareness Workshop

Traditional healers and herbalist from all over Free State from tomorrow will be taken through biodiversity economy as it pertains two sustainable use of resources in Free State. This symposium is envisaged by Department of Economic Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in collaboration with National Department of Environmental Affairs, largely to workshop traditional healers about harvesting of indigenous plants in Free State. Some of the topics will include:

  • To inform and optimize a working relationship with the different groups of both traditional healers and herbalist within the province.
  • To enhance communications, awareness and capacity building.
  • To facilitate voluntary participation of the concern group within their own flexible programme and resources.
  • Enablement to offer technical and scientific inputs while taking into account the indigenous knowledge
  • Institutionalization of nature resources management.
