The Petroleum Products Act (No 58 of 2003) workshop in the Limpopo region, Waterberg District Municipality

During a Petroleum Products Act (PPA) workshop hosted by the Department of Energy, officials engaged residents of Bela-Bela in the Waterberg District Municipality on legislation, processes and systems that govern the Petroleum Industry in South Africa. The workshop forms part of a series of quarterly awareness campaigns conducted by the department across all provinces. .

While promoting awareness of legislation, processes and systems, the workshop also brought awareness of the business opportunities available within the sector. Participants were informed of entrepreneurship opportunities in manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing of petroleum products. Existing license holders were also reminded of compliance requirements, and also brought up to speed of new developments within the sector. Supporting entities present at the workshop included the National Empowerment Fund and the NYDA who informed participants of the funding and capacity building available from their organisations. While the Limpopo provincial and municipal departments shared information unique to the province in terms of the Environmental Impact study requirements, national and provincial road access issues, as well town planning and rezoning matters.
