Free State Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs honours public servants, 12 Oct

DESTEA honours public servants

In celebration of Public Service month which was in September, we are reminded that public servants are crucial in realizing the vision of government and improving service delivery.

Through being celebrated and acknowledged, public servants will be motivated, uplifted, and encouraged. This will boost their morale and inculcate a sense of pride in being a public servant. The department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs through the Long Service Awards will recognize and honor these long serving public servants.

This year 49 employees will be recognized for their long relationship with the public service. Of the 49 recipients, 5 will be honoured for serving 40 years, 10 for 30 years, 12 for 20 years and 22 for 10 years. Put together, the recipients have accumulated an unbroken total of 960 years in public service.

Long Service Awards are meant to ensure that men and women who have selflessly served the South African government for more than a decade, understand how much of a big deal their commitment and loyalty are to the department.

The recipients are a combination of senior managers, middle managers, junior staff as well as general workers and come from head office and resorts and reserves. This event serves as a reminder to employees, either individually or collectively of what they undertook as values when they joined the public service which include professionalism, accountability, responsiveness, ethics and performance in delivery of services to our communities.

Member of the media are invited.
