Deputy Minister Nocawe Mafu on Spar Proteas win of the Spar Challenge Tri Nations Series

Deputy Minister Nocawe Mafu Congratulates the Spar Proteas for their win of the Spar Challenge Tri Nations Series

The Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Nocawe Mafu congratulates the SPAR Proteas National Netball team for winning the SPAR Challenge Tri Nations netball series which took place between South Africa, Uganda and Namibia at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on 25th to 31st March 2021. The SPAR Proteas secured the trophy and ensured that it remains home after beating Uganda 44 – 32 in the last match of the Tri Nations series. All teams faced each other three times during the series and our girls won all six of their matches. Congratulations and well done to Captain, Bongi Msomi and her team for their unbeaten run in the series.

Well done to the SPAR Proteas coaching team for fielding new players to strengthen the team and make sure that we have depth going to the 2023 Netball World Cup. And those new girls showed character and proved that they are also worthy of positions in the National team. The SPAR Challenge series has been very valuable for the new players and of course for the team as the SPAR Proteas prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham next year and the Netball World Cup in Cape Town in 2023.

Thank you to the organisers, Netball South Africa and SPAR, for staging a successful Tri Nations series. Proof that as a country we are more than capable and ready to host a successful 2023 Netball World Cup.
