Department of Employment and Labour “Major Communication Campaign” reaches out to the second largest township
The Department of Employment and Labour will be bringing suite of integrated services to the community of Mdantsane on the 22-23 November 2019.
The Major Communication Campaigns are conducted quarterly across the Eastern Cape Province focusing on employers, employees and youth. These campaigns are aimed at creating awareness and promoting legislative processes driven by the Department whilst strengthening working relations between the Departments’ stakeholders and its clients.
One of the mandates of the Department is to contribute to employment creation by ensuring that people who register as work seekers are best matched with opportunities available in the labour market. The Department will be bringing its Public Employment Services Unit for registration of workseekers, assist employed/unemployed people with information and registration of claims for Unemployment Insurance Fund and Compensation Fund and also provide information on National Minimum Wage Act.
“There is also a notable information gap with regards to the core functions of the Department in the public domain and by conducting these Communication Campaign quarterly, the Department wants to bridge that gap while promoting employment and creating a conducive and safe working environment”, said Eastern Cape Chief Director Provincial Operations; Ms Nomfundo Douw-Jack.
The programme for the first day will have an advocacy session with employers and second day will also be having an engagement session joined by Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA), Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) and other sister Departments who will be rendering their services at the exhibition stalls.
