The North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Provincial Affairs and Finance will be conducting public hearings on the North West Appropriation Bill 2013.
The public hearings will be held at Monakato Community Hall in Rietspruit, at Matlosana Banquet Hall in Klerksdorp; at Old Kraaipan Hall in Kraaipan and at Huhudi Hall in Vryburg on Wednesday, 20 March 2013. All public hearings start at 10h00.
The North West Appropriation Bill 2013, aims to provide for the appropriation of amounts of monies from the North West Provincial Revenue Fund for the requirements of the province in the 2013/14 financial year.
It is a money Bill that has set aside a sum of money from a budget from the Government coffers for a specific purpose Part of the Legislature’s mandate is to promote public participation & oversight, therefore the Bill intends to hear the voice of the community with regards to how funds should be allocated into various Government structures.
This will be in the spirit of open democracy, transparency and accountability. The money appropriated by the Legislature to the government departments should be spent in terms of the Public Finance Management Act No 1 of 1999.
