Minister Lindiwe Zulu hosts South African Business Incubation Conference in Gauteng, 15 to 16 Nov

Minister of Small Business Development, Lindiwe Zulu, will host the Second South African Business Incubation Conference (SABIC) from 15-16 November 2018 at the Emperors Palace Conference Centre, Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng.

The Second SABIC conference, which takes place under the theme: “Creating inclusive entrepreneurial growth through innovation”, is an initiative of the Department of Small Business Development and its agency, the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda).

The conference will showcase innovative accelerators and incubators together with their innovative start-ups. It will bring together both private and public incubators with the sole aim of improving the enterprise development ecosystem by sharing best practice from South Africa, Africa and across the globe.

SABIC brings together various role players in the incubation and acceleration space from South Africa and abroad. Approximately 500 delegates are expected to attend this year’s SABIC, representing local and international ecosystem builders, policy makers, entrepreneurs, government leaders, academia as well as organized business formations from various sectors.

Minister of Small Business Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, said: “Following SABIC 2016, government and other partners have worked hard to bring key role players together. SABIC seeks to create a platform where all incubation-related matters could be addressed. Among other things, the conference will focus building a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem that creates jobs and reduces inequality”.

As part of the SABIC conference, Minister Zulu will also be hosting the Second Incubator Awards which seek to recognise excellence in the incubation and acceleration space, by recognizing business incubators and accelerators that run impactful programmes and showing tangible contributions to the ecosystem. The awards also aim to recognise clients and start-ups that are performing well in the market and have growing potential to be meaningful contributors to the economy.
