Gauteng Provincial Legislature engagement for the week, 7 to 10 Mar

As part of implementing the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s (GPL) core mandates of Oversight and Scrutiny; Law Making; Public Participation; and Cooperative Governance, Portfolio and Standing Committees convene various activities to facilitate meaningful and objectives-driven engagement with relevant stakeholders. The engagements vary based on specific objectives and priorities that are informed by each Committee’s Term Programme- ranging from Committee meetings; Public Hearings; Focus Intervention (FIS) unannounced oversight visits; Bill Hearings; Stakeholder Engagement Sessions;  and Bua le Sechaba campaigns.

In an effort to ‘Take the Legislature to the People’, Portfolio Committees also schedule public meetings at the Legislature and in various communities around the Province – affording the people of Gauteng a platform to engage with the relevant Departments on various service delivery issues. Committees facilitate the engagement between Government and the people of Gauteng to ensure meaningful participation and ensure the public’s voice is heard and their needs met.
