Minister Edna Molewa meets European Commission on climate change, 16 Jul

The Minister of Environmental Affairs, Mrs Edna Molewa, will accompany the European Commission’s Vice President Maroš Šefčovič to the Khangezile Primary School in KwaThema, east of Johannesburg, on Thursday, 16 July 2015.

Mr Šefčovič, who is responsible for the European Union and oversees Climate Action with the European Union, will meeting Minister Molewa during his visit to South Africa. Topics to be covered during the discussion include the upcoming 21st Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris.

The Khangezile Primary School has been able to increasingly operate off-grid using solar power, a bio-converter for gas to cook school meals, and makes use of rain-water collection to manage an extensive food garden project (which, in turn, is fertilised by sludge from the bio-converter) and is run with the assistance of the local community.
