The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal celebrated the Womens’ Month at University of KwaZulu-Natal Edgewood Campus on 13 August 2013. The MEC Senzo Mchunu, who was a key-note speaker, encouraged women to work hard to achieve the ideals and the vision of the women who marched to Pretoria in 1956.
"One of the serious challenges facing our society, especially women, is rape and we urge all women to fight this scourge with the same zeal that was demonstrated by the gallant women of 1956," said the MEC.
