The MEC for Health in KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, has conveyed his message of condolence for the death of a woman in her thirties who was shot on Monday in eShowe and the MEC had to stop his convoy to try and save her life.
“As those who loved her comprehend this profound loss, let their cry be in knowing that each tear is a note of love rising to the heavens," says the MEC, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo
The MEC was on his way to visit the families whose houses were destroyed by lightening in the eShowe area when his convoy came across an emergency vehicle trying to assist a woman in her 30s who had suffered a gunshot wound. The woman was found by young people who were looking after livestock in the area. The MEC assisted the emergency medical personnel on site in resuscitating and stabilising her before she was rushed to eShowe Hospital.
Doctors and nurses at the hospital tried to save her life and she died two hours later. At the time of her death she had not been identified nor had the police been able to arrest her assailants. "I am deeply sorry about her loss. It’s more saddening that she died away from home and in such a traumatic manner,” MEC Dhlomo said.
“We hope the police will be able to identify her so that her next of kin can be alerted immediately. We also hope that the people she had visited would come forward. Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving at this sad time."
