Six killed in a gruesome accident at Kwashikisheka near Umtuba

Six people died in a horrific accident involving two bakkies this morning of 27 November 2009 at KwaShikisheka near Mtubatuba.

Preliminary reports have revealed that the two bakkies; Isuzu and Toyota Hilux collided on the side killing six people instantly four of which were males from the Hilux and two from the Isuzu. Three other critically injured survivors were taken to different hospitals. The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and is pending police investigation.

“I would like to send my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wish a speedy recuperation to the survivors. It is because of such disastrous accidents that the department has never supported the ferrying of passengers with bakkies. Once again I must reiterate that bakkies are not designed as passenger carrying vehicles. To motorists in general please exercise tolerance to one another and keep to the rules of the road at all times,” said Mchunu.
