Salaries of 3 070 employees frozen

Following a number of circulars and public announcements urging officials to present themselves for the head count both in departmental offices and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Treasury offices, the Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal has frozen salaries of those officials who have failed to present themselves for verification purposes.

The salaries that have been frozen are of those officials who have not given any reasons for failing to present themselves with their documents. This excludes those who did not present themselves because they were on leave that was approved by their supervisors. There are 3 070 (three thousand and seventy) officials within the KZN Department of Education who did not come forth for verification purposes and their salaries have been frozen with effect from 1 December 2010.

These officials are once again asked to present themselves at Provincial Treasury internal audit at Nomalanga House, 214 Langalibalele Street, Pietermaritzburg. Employees must bring proof of their identity document or passport. They must also bring their original certificates or qualifications or certified copies thereof. This should happen not later than 17 December 2010.

NB: No one is allowed to submit documents on behalf of anybody.
