Kwazulu-Natal Premier sends condolences on the passing of Deputy Minister Bavelile Hlongwa
Premier Sihle Zikalala of KwaZulu-Natal Province has conveyed his words of condolence on the passing of Mineral Resources and Energy Deputy Minister, Ms Bavelile Hlongwa who sadly lost her life in a car accident yesterday.
The Premier described Ms Hlongwa as a remarkable leader who entered public life at a young age and went on to serve society with greatest diligence and compassion.
“We are extremely saddened by the passing of the Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Ms Bavelile Hlongwa. South Africa and indeed KwaZulu-Natal Province have lost a talented young leader. She was a person who excelled in every responsibility assigned to her, full of vigour, energy and innovation. She was a courageous person who spoke her mind at any given instance,” Mr Zikalala added.
Ms Hlongwa was appointed as Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy with effect from 30 May 2019. Prior to her appointment she served as Executive Deputy Chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency.
