The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Senzo Mchunu has paid tribute to the Sharks after they defeated the Western Cape Province in the ABSA Currie Cup final yesterday

“Throughout the cup final, the people of KwaZulu-Natal from all diverse backgrounds were on an emotional rollercoaster. On behalf of the provincial government and the people of KwaZulu-Natal I want to congratulate the team and the management for this great victory. We have all been inspired by this beautiful display of talent and stamina.”

“The players remained focused and resilient despite playing against a formidable team with an excellent home-based support. The ability to thrive despite these challenges should be attributed to teamwork and unity.”

“As the people of KwaZulu-Natal we are proud of this performance and we have no doubt that we are yet to see the best of the Sharks.”

“We have mobilised the people of this province to go to the King Shaka International Airport to welcome our heroes in style. Importantly, the provincial government will line up a series of victory celebrations as part of our efforts aimed at promoting the great heritage of KwaZulu-Natal Sharks - a formadable representative of the Natal Rugby Union which was founded in 1890.”
