Police arrests offenders against women and children in KwaZulu-Natal

329 arrested by KwaZulu-Natal FCS units

Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Units in KwaZulu-Natal have a profound reason to celebrate this Women’s Month, especially following the results they achieved during their investigation of various sexual related offences in KwaZulu-Natal last month. Detectives from the FCS Units have been working tirelessly to ensure that those that perpetrate crimes against our women and children are brought to book.

From 1 - 31 July 2015, detectives arrested a total of 329 suspects for sexual related offences including kidnapping, assaults, domestic violence, sexual assault, attempted murder, contravening of protection orders, abductions and rape cases in the province. During the same period, 54 suspects were convicted by various courts in the province after they were found guilty of sexual offences.

In addition, six life sentences and a total of 556 years of imprisonment were handed down by courts to perpetrators; FCS Units management welcomed the maximum sentences that were handed down in most cases and appreciated the fact that that justice was delivered to the victims of these crimes.
