Earlier this morning around 4h30, a team of paramedics from the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Department of Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) treated a total of 21 patients for respiratory conditions due to smoke from a fire at a factory on South Coast road in Mobeni, South of Durban. All of the patients were in a stable condition.
When the paramedics arrived the fire had already been extinguished by the fire department, and fortunately there had been no fatalities. The paramedics arrived in several response vehicles, including three ambulances and a patient transport bus. The patients were transported to a local hospital for continued medical care by the paramedics from KZN EMS. The cause of the fire is being investigated by authorities.
