NW gets ready for registration for Traditional Council Elections
The North West Province is gearing up for the registration weekend for the Traditional Council Elections (TCE) on the 10th December 2022 in Bojanala district and the 17th December 2022 for Ngaka Modiri Molema and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati districts.
As with either national, provincial or local government elections, eligible voters must have registered to vote in the traditional council elections which will be held on the 04th March 2023 and they will be conducted in accordance with the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Act No 3 of 2019, section 16 (1) which provides for the establishment of traditional councils in traditional communities for a period of five (5) years.
Voters must be 18 years of age or older, be in possession of either a green bar-coded identity document (ID), a smart-card identity document or a temporary identity certificate in order to register. Voters will only be allowed to vote where they have registered.
There are over 500 voting stations and they will be opened for registration from 8am to 5pm. Each voting station will have two presiding officers and officials who will assist the voters on the process of registration. The registration will be done using a software known as core-vadis.
There are 56 traditional councils in the province. These include 32 traditional councils in Bojanala; 20 in Ngaka Modiri Molema, four (4) in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati district.
