The MEC for Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), Mr Sihle Zikalala, has accepted, with regret, the resignation of Ezemvelo KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife Chief Executive Officer, Dr David Mabunda.
Bidding farewell to Dr Mabunda today, MEC Zikalala said: "It is with regret that I accept Dr Mabunda's resignation given his good record at Ezemvelo. We are, nonetheless, grateful for his stellar performance in stabilising the entity and putting it on a sound corporate governance footing. On behalf of the people of KwaZulu-Natal and Ezemvelo stakeholders, we wish him continued success as he moves to pursue new opportunities."
In the interim, Mr Bhekisisa Khoza, the Managing Executive responsible for Biodiversity Conservation has been appointed as the Acting CEO. “We commend Mr Khoza for accepting our request to serve as the Acting CEO. Mr Khoza has sufficient skills to excel in this role as he has 36 years of experience within Ezemvelo KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife. We will, with immediate effect, be seized with the process of finalising the appointment of a permanent CEO to ensure long term stability in the organisation," Zikalala said.
Mr Khoza holds a Nature Conservation Diploma from Cwaka Agricultural College, has completed an Executive Development Programme at UNISA’s School of Business Leadership as well as Advanced Project Management training at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.
