The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Education, Mr Senzo Mchunu, will on Tuesday, 4 August table his first ever budget speech since his appointment in May this year.
This budget speech will set the tone for departmental strategic direction and highlight the MEC’s priorities for the next five years. It will also highlight the gains made by the department since 2004 as well as the challenges that the department still faces.
“Quality education can only be delivered in the classrooms.” This has almost become a mantra for MEC Mchunu and is indicative of the tone that is going to be set by this budget speech where development of the classroom is going to take centre stage.
“This budget speech is presented in the context of very difficult economic conditions and we have to use every cent judiciously in our quest to improve the quality of education in the province of KwaZulu-Natal,” said MEC Mchunu.
